The best maple trees
The quality of this exquisite hardwood begins in U.S. northern forests above the 35th parallel where shorter growing seasons and longer winters produce a densely grained maple with rich, consistent color and fewer imperfections.

Resiliency and Performance
Wood is an organic product consisting of patterns of fibers and air pockets which give it a natural shock-absorbing quality. These characteristics, combined with specially designed and engineered subfloor systems, deliver performance and safety for a variety of sporting and activity applications.

Kiln Drying
MFMA specifications require that maple flooring be manufactured from kiln-dried lumber. This permits more precise control of moisture (see below) and control of expansion and contraction.

Moisture Control
MFMA recommends maintaining 6% to 9% moisture content following manufacture. Upon receipt of shipment, proper moisture controls are maintained to assure stability in the finished floor.

Treatment and Finish
MFMA has authorized an independent testing agency, Case Consulting Laboratories (973/428-9666) to test floor finish products in accordance with strict standards. This provides end-users with valuable floor finish comparison and selection data. Contact the MFMA for a list of MFMA-tested floor finishes to assure that the finish you specify meets MFMA standards.
MFMA maple flooring and wood subfloor components may be treated with Woodlife F® (or equal) wood preservative/protectant when specified.

The Assurance of Quality Installation
MFMA maple is installed by reputable MFMA member contractors , such as Development Hardwood Floors , according to strict guidelines. The contractor's involvement begins with the foundation and subfloor systems to assure flatness and uniform stability.
